What happens in an open matrimony group
WhatsApp groups are easy to join, and that is the problem. Once a photograph or a phone number is posted in a group, it belongs to everyone in it:
- Photos travel. Anyone can save and forward them, to other groups and other people, and there is no taking them back.
- Numbers are collected. A group is a list of phone numbers, and some people join only to gather them.
- Nobody is checked. There is no review of who joins or whether a profile is genuine, so fake profiles and people asking for money are common.
- You cannot leave cleanly. Leaving the group does not remove what you posted from other people's phones.
